Where are the words to describe my day?
I couldn't get my car out of its parking spot last night so I hitched a ride home with Tall One (my roommate). No big deal, right? I thought I'd just get it out today.
So I ride in to work with Tall One this morning, snow shovel in tow. I decide to wait a bit to go try and get my car out until I actually have some place to go. There really isn't a way to put into words the reactions I got walking into work with my snow shovel.
I fielded the questions and then propped it up beside me in my cubicle. It was hickish. Or small-town American as we call it around here.
When I decided I couldn't up it off any longer, I grabbed my snow shovel and headed for my fate. As I was standing on the street corner, waiting to cross, my friend called and asked, "Hey, did I just see you standing on the corner with a snow shovel?"
"Of course you did," I responded. "It's what all the cool kids are doing these days."
Anyway, long story short, he looped around to help me. I shoveled my car out and sat there and spun my wheels. Turns out I was parked on a sheet of ice. Brilliant! Thankfully, PhD's chains for his truck (albeit a wimpy truck but I really can't knock him because he saved my butt today) fit my car tires and I was able to get out of that blasted section of street parking.
Once I was on the road, I was fine other than a few little fun escapades of sliding and testing my snow-driving skills...like sliding through a pedestrian crosswalk. But what is that lame-o stupid saying? All's well that ends well? Yeah.
So thank you PhD (maybe I should call him P.Diddy for fun. He's so not a P.Diddy but you'd have to know him for that to take effect) and keep your phone on in case I need more help. It's supposed to snow for the next week.
